Mickey Rourke was pictured working up a sweat ahead of his first boxing match in 20 years in Moscow yesterday (November 26).

The Hollywood actor - who began amateur boxing at the age of 12 before quitting acting briefly to return in the '90s - sported scraggly grey hair and a ripped physique as he prepared for his upcoming fight against 29-year-old Russian professional boxer Elliot Seymour.

He also donned arguably the world's whitest and tightest shorts.

The 62-year-old heavily tattooed star has lost a reported 35 pounds while training for the match, although it has been suggested that he was also losing weight for his role as Welsh rugby player Gareth Thomas in an upcoming biopic.

Russian sports manager Maxim Kornilov told state news agency Tass: "Given his age, he is in a perfect shape.

"Mickey has been sparring with young boxers, and we'll wait and see his performance in the ring. I think he'll cope with the task because he has a wealth of experience."

Rourke recently caused controversy after queuing up with hundreds of people in Moscow's Red Square to purchase a Vladimir Putin T-shirt.

He recently returned as Marv in Robert Rodriguez's Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.

The five-round fight between Rourke and Kornilov is set to take place in the Russian capital tomorrow.
